Does Portfolio Optimization Pay?

چکیده
All HARA-utility investors with the same exponent invest in a single risky fund and the risk-free asset. In a continuous time-model stock proportions are proportional to the inverse local relative risk aversion of the investor (1/γ-rule). This paper analyses the conditions under which the optimal buy and hold-portfolio of a HARA-investor can be approximated by the optimal portfolio of an investor with some low level of constant relative risk aversion using the 1/γ-rule. It turns out that the approximation works very well in markets without approximate arbitrage opportunities. In markets with high equity premiums this approximation may be of low quality. Integration of Genetic Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization for Investment Portfolio Optimization
In investment market, investors often pay attention to investment portfolio selection and asset allocation under market risk. Thus, this study presents a two-stage method of investment portfolio based on soft computing techniques. The first stage uses data envelopment analysis to select most profitable funds, while hybrid of genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO)is propose...
متن کاملRobustness-based portfolio optimization under epistemic uncertainty
In this paper, we propose formulations and algorithms for robust portfolio optimization under both aleatory uncertainty (i.e., natural variability) and epistemic uncertainty (i.e., imprecise probabilistic information) arising from interval data. Epistemic uncertainty is represented using two approaches: (1) moment bounding approach and (2) likelihood-based approach. This paper first proposes a ...
متن کاملA nonlinear bi-level programming approach for product portfolio management
Product portfolio management (PPM) is a critical decision-making for companies across various industries in today's competitive environment. Traditional studies on PPM problem have been motivated toward engineering feasibilities and marketing which relatively pay less attention to other competitors' actions and the competitive relations, especially in mathematical optimization domain. The key c...
متن کاملInformation Technology Project Portfolio Implementation Process Optimization Based on Complex Network Theory and Entropy
In traditional information technology project portfolio management (ITPPM), managers often pay more attention to the optimization of portfolio selection in the initial stage. In fact, during the portfolio implementation process, there are still issues to be optimized. Organizing cooperation will enhance the efficiency, although it brings more immediate risk due to the complex variety of links b...
متن کاملOnline Lazy Updates for Portfolio Selection with Transaction Costs
A major challenge for stochastic optimization is the cost of updating model parameters especially when the number of parameters is large. Updating parameters frequently can prove to be computationally or monetarily expensive. In this paper, we introduce an efficient primal-dual based online algorithm that performs lazy updates to the parameter vector and show that its performance is competitive...
